This Wicked Tongue Presents:-

One of the great things about being in a band is that, among other things, you get to see and play with loads of other bands. The more you travel, the more bands you meet, and the more good bands you encounter, the greater the impact. The last six months alone have seen local band This Wicked Tongue performing far and wide, from London to Lancaster, from Reading to Rhondda and from Malvern to Mansfield. March saw a seven date tour covering hundreds of miles in the wickedbus with Redditch favourites A Poetic Yesterday, another band originally encountered at a shared gig.

With the miles they've travelled and the venues they've played, it's little wonder that This Wicked Tongue are able to bring bands to Worcester of real talent, originality and invention to make for a lineup of genuine quality. On 18th May, the band will welcome three outstanding out-of-town bands to Worcester's Marrs Bar for what promises to be a night of sheer quality on the cutting edge of modern music.

Hailing all the way from Montreal, October Sky are familiar with the British music scene, having toured in both 2010 and 2011. Strong, alternative riffs punctuated by soft, captivating interludes characterise their output, with live performances featuring a mesmerizing, harmonic fusion of music, voices, lights, and video effects. Championed by NME Music, and recently signed by British label Rocksector, October Sky are already building on a strong midlands fan base following their appearance at the Birmingham O2 with This Wicked Tongue in 2011.

Recently signed to Animal Farm, The Manic Shine are in the business of breaking moulds. Based in London, (where, you guessed it, they gigged with This Wicked Tongue) but with the most diverse origins and musical influences imaginable, they do away with over-used chord structures and conventional genres with their aptly named 'metamorphic rock', which nods to past times of heavy guitar blues but is then amplified and entwined with electronic noises of the future. A raucous blend of progressive rock but not prog, indie stylings but no skinny jeans, and all the irreverent synth chaos of 21st century electronica.

From a little closer to home, Stafford to be precise, and just up the motorway from Dudley where they first encountered This Wicked Tongue, Twinkle and the Sluts are a female fronted band fusing elements of bands such as Siouxsie and The Banshees and Blondie. Throw in the harder edges of Dillinger Escape Plan and Distillers; and influences such as Queens of The Stoneage, and you get all-conquering hooks and guitar riffs with the passion, pace and attitude of the very best.

Which nicely brings us full circle to This Wicked Tongue - "pure genius" as one reviewer phrased it; "epic gargantuan rock" as Amazing Radio described their music. Many local music followers will already be familiar with the dynamic combination of riffs and vocals that characterises This Wicked Tongue's output - "fist of steel in melodic velvet glove" as Mudkiss put it, but now for the first time followers of the local music scene will be able to measure the band live alongside a handful of the country's most outstanding up and coming bands, on a bill where all of the bands take pride in delivering music full of hooks and balls aplenty. This is certainly a bill not to be missed....
